A warm blend of Irish fiddle tunes and rootsy American song on fiddle, flute, guitar, mandolin, piano, and vocals.

With the release of his first album Come Sit By My Chair, Brendan Taaffe has declared himself a polished musician, grounded in the traditions of Ireland and the Americas but with his own, fresh perspective. Spanning songs from the British Isles, Finland and the old-time tradition, and a wealth of fiddle tunes from Ireland and his own fertile imagination, Come Sit By My Chair is a richly colored quilt of music, featuring guest appearances by Pete Sutherland, Brian Perkins, Roger Kahle, and Brad Hurley. The overall effect is like a Japanese garden-nothing overstated, but a treasure in every nook and cranny.
Come Sit By My Chair offers a seamless blend of fiddling, traditional and new songs, contemporary folk, and a sampling of Taaffe’s songwriting skills and his infectious voice.
The Rutland Herald
Many of the fiddle sets are played at a pleasantly slower pace
, giving both musicians and listeners more opportunities to 'climb inside' the tunes. The entire recording is gently done, giving an impression of house-concert intimacy with professional-quality sound.
